In our TNVR program, stray and feral cats are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by our team of veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into loving homes, while healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the care of volunteers or placed in barn homes.
All appointments for feral cats must be made prior to trapping. We have a limited number of spaces available each run, so be sure to email us at clinic@comocritters.org or book on our site.
Surgical runs are scheduled ahead of time and can be reserved in advance. Please be sure cat is confirmed trapped 48 hours prior to surgical appointment date. Cinics are always on Wednesday, cats must be in traps by Monday night!
Neuter or spay, flea/tick treatment, rabies & distemper vaccines, microchip & ear tip is $60.00 per cat, no limit.
Cats must be trapped 48 hours in advance and kept off food and water after 10 PM the night before surgery. Never leave traps unattended or outside overnight. Never trap using cans of cat food as bait, sharp rims cause serious mouth and tongue injury to cats. Once trapped, cover the trap with a towel to keep cats calm, move them to a safe and quiet location placing trap on 2x4's to keep elevated, place disposable litter pan under trap.
All cats must arrive at the drop off location on time and in a humane trap or carrier,
Inform us if you believe your cat is pregnant or nursing. If you need to borrow a trap, email: tnvr@comocritters.org to get help with arranging equipment loan.
Female cats must remain in the trap or other enclosure for four days for recovery. Males must remain trapped or in an enclosure two days for recovery. Food and water and oral medication (via food) should be provided post-surgery and throughout recovery. Trap must remain elevated for waste to fall through to litter pan below or cat must have room for litter in enclosure. Keep the cat clean and dry throughout recovery.
All cats will be ear-tipped to indicate they have been spayed or neutered; EAR TIP IS NON-OPTIONAL. If you request no ear tip, the fee for surgical services is $75. Vaccinations for rabies and DRC (Distemper, Rhino, Calici) will be administered. Microchipping, flea/mite treatment, antibiotics and in some cases pain meds will be given as an injection. All surgeries are done with absorbable sutures. All cats and kittens will be microchipped to Como Critters, an optional $20 fee will be charged to register each chip to colony caregiver (for life).
